Top picks from the Marudo nisai launched today
We launched a selection of Marudo nisai Go Sanke this morning, which is part of our autumn harvest selections— kept secret until now!
They've proved popular, but there are still many great picks available and here are some of Amanda's and my top picks from this morning's release that at the time of writing, are still available.
Three step kohakus - It's difficult to better this type of pattern on a Kohaku and we still have two of these remaining.

A few of the showa have really interesting beni (red) patterns and even though the sumi is lacking currently, does not mean it will stay that way. Nisai is still young for a Showa, and if you are looking for a Showa with a kohaku style beni (red) pattern, these could be a good bet for you:

When Amanda and I catalogue koi for listing on the website, it's often the first opportunity we've had for some time to see the koi at close quarters in an inspection bowl. Koi change over time, and some have that extra 'pop' when you see them in the bowl. Here are a few of those koi:

Marudo are producing top quality koi in all three go sanke varieties , ie Kohaku, Sanke and Showa. And their koi are competing successfully in the best shows in Japan. The Showa I photographed at the 2012 All England Koi Show, which we feature in the Koi Vareity Spotlight for Showa (https://www.byerkoifarm.co.uk/blogs/blog/koi-variety-spotlight-showa-bold-and-powerful-the-magnificent-three-coloured-koi) is from Marudo, and as well as that notable award in the UK, this koi is well awarded in Japan too. Before coming to the UK, this Showa placed 2nd in Showa overall at the All Japan Koi Show (ie, arguably the second best showa in the world that year!) - coming second only to a Showa that went on to win the All Japan the following year. This year, a Marudo Sanke won the Nagaoka koi show - which is one of the main autumn havest season shows in Niigata. So, they have quality in their breeding lines and we've managed to select nisai from Marudo that are also affordable for nisai from a top Japanese breeder and that slot in to our range of koi with most at £195 or £245.
