Our Finest Koi Yet: A Glimpse at 2024's Early Season Spawnings Highlights

We've completed the penultimate round of selections on our early season spawnings last week. Those spawnings include Goshiki (2 breeding sets), Doitsu Ochiba, Kikisui and Doitsu Metallic Ochiba.  Those spawnings also produce some Aragoke and Kumonryu as well.

The koi that take those precious places in our growing tanks for the remainder of the winter have the highest potential, and around 75% of them will be listed in the spring as individual koi ranging from £50 to £125. And the rarest , in terms of overall quality, will stay with us here at Byer Koi Farm for another summer and be released at Nisai in autumn '25.

In this blog post, we want to give you the heads up that the early season spawnings this year (2024) are comfortably the best we've had in a very long time - possibly ever.

Whether you are most interested in our nisai harvests, tosai harvests or small koi mixes - this is all good news.  We have more koi at each level, which means more choice.

If you're interested in other varieties - I'll be updating you on our late season spawnings soon - this includes Shusui, Ki Utsuri and Karashigoi. And, I am travelling to Japan in around a month's time to select Japanese koi to fill gaps in our range.  That means from Adam Byer Koi Farm you will have a huge range of koi to choose from next season - including the koi we've bred, and also koi we've imported from Japan. This will include nisai, and tosai.   I'll give you a little piece of advance information on some we have already secured....  We have a broad range of tosai from Shinoda across most of the varieties they breed - and that includes Doitsu Go Sanke (All 3 varieties - Kohaku, Sanke and lots of Doitsu Showa!), Gin Rin Showa, Gin Rin Kohaku and of course, Hi Utsuri.  Following the success of our customer with Shinoda Hi Utsuri tosai purchased from us last season (see the blog here: https://www.byerkoifarm.co.uk/blogs/blog/our-customers-koi-before-and-after), we've gone in large with hi Utsuri from Shinoda for next season so there will be plenty of choice.  I'll provide more detail about our tosai offerings once we are in January, and the tosai releases will start in early spring.

Back to our early season spawnings.  I've taken some footage this morning from some of the ponds holding the koi we are growing on for the next few months - 75% of these will become available as individually listed tosai in the spring:

Every koi we produce, from premium examples to those more widely available in our spring and summer releases, reflects our commitment to quality. With a huge range planned for next season, including exciting Japanese imports and updates on late-season spawnings, there’s something for everyone to look forward to. Keep an eye on the blog for more updates soon!

I'm also going to share footage of some of the best koi from the early season spawnings with you. Every koi we produce will be made available for sale - and many of these koi are likely to feature in our nisai release in Autumn '25. With some potentially made available as special tosai in our spring releases.  Please enjoy these highlights from our early season spawnings:
